IIV-1 isolated from Tipula paludosa (Diptera); IIV-2 isolated from Sericesthis pruinosa (Coleoptera); IIV-6 isolated from Chilo supressalis (Lepidoptera) [TYPE SPECIES - also known as Chilo iridescent virus]; IIV-9 isolated from Wiseana cervinata (Lepidoptera) [also isolated from sympatric species of Lepidoptera, Witlesia sabulosella and Coleoptera, Opogonia sp.]; IIV-16 isolated from Costelyra zealandia (Coleoptera) [and probably from the coleopteran Odontria striata, previously described as IIV-19]; IIV-22 isolated from Simulium sp. (Diptera); IIV-23 isolated from Heteronychus arator (Coleoptera); IIV-24 isolated from Apis cerana (Hymenoptera); IIV-29 isolated from Tenebrio molitor (Coleoptera); IIV-30 isolated from Helicoverpa zea (Lepidoptera); IIV-31 isolated from Armadillidium vulgare [and probably Porcellio dilatatus and several other species of terrestrial isopod]; AGIV isolated from Anticarsia gemmatalis (Lepidoptera).

These viruses have also been isolated from diverse species of mosquitoes, midges, beetles, moths, crickets, annelid worms and moluscs, most recently a species of marine Nautilus. However, most of these isolates have not been characterized and many of the original isolates are no longer available for study. |
